Peterborough is committing to building at least two ice pads and an aquatics facility at Morrow Park after a general committee meeting Monday night.
While the cost has risen over the years as the arena settles on its third proposed location, city councillors made an initial decision to pledge to build at the Lansdowne Street site during the meeting.
The decision will need to be ratified at a public city council meeting on July 26.
Though some councillors were glad to finally be moving on with the arena plan, others expressed worry about the price tag.
“I support this being built, but I don’t support it being built at $61 million,” said Coun. Stephen Wright.
